Dear “Demand Democratic Debates” Supporter:
I emailed you on the long weekend, asking if you could take a few moments to support the participation of the Green Party of Ontario in the provincial Leaders’ debate on September 27th. Many responded, and the petition now has almost 5,500 signatures. Thank you for your support to reverse this highly undemocratic decision.
This week, I have learned that Ontario isn’t the only province denying the Green Party their rightful seat at the table. Both the Manitoba Green Party and the Prince Edward Island Green Party are now excluded from their Leader’s debates. Even worse, the PEI Greens were in the debates in 2007 (their first election) and came in 3rd on election night. These decisions are a big step backwards for democracy.
We cannot allow this erosion of democracy to continue. Ontarians deserve to hear the Green Party leader, Mike Schreiner, debating with the other three provincial party leaders.
There are 5 ways you can lend a hand. If you have not yet taken a few minutes to help let Mike speak in the Leader’s debate, please take action right now:
- Sign the petition at letmikespeak.ca;
- Ask five (or more!) friends sign the petition;
- Email the other Ontario party leaders;
- ‘Like’ their Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/LetMikeSpeak; and
- Follow #LetMikeSpeak on Twitter.
